Card Game: Speed

    Speed is a fun, quick game to play with friends and family. It takes around 2 minutes to play and is a great game for all ages. If you ever need a quick activity to keep you and your friends busy, a couple rounds of speed is a great choice. 

    For 2 players.

    Requires:

    For this card game, you will need 1 deck of cards, no jokers.

    Set up:

    Shuffle the cards, then set aside 8 cards, deal the remaining cards into 2 decks without looking at them. Then deal the 8 cards into 2 piles of 3 and 2 piles of 1. Arrange the piles in the middle of the two players going in in the order: 3, 1, 1, 3. The piles with one being in the middle and the piles with 3 being the outer piles. Then give each player one of the two decks.  

    Goal – To get rid of all your cards.

    Play:

    The dealer flips over the center two cards so they are face up, and each player grabs the top five cards from their deck. 

    There are no turns in this game. The goal is to put cards down on one of the middle two stacks that is numerically next to the current card on top (A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A). For example, if there was a jack in the middle, you could put down a 10 or a queen. After you put down a card, you can add another card from your deck to your hand, so you always have 5 cards. 

    If the game gets to a point where neither player can put down a card, then the dealer pulls a card from each of the outer piles, flips them, and puts them on top of the middle two stacks. Those cards will then be treated as the new top cards and the players will resume. The game will continue until one player is out of cards.
